Dayak Iban is the largest Dayak ethnic group in Borneo.

The major subgroups of Dayak Iban are  Dayak Sebuyau, Dayak Skrang, Dayak Saribas, Dayak Kantu, Dayak Mualang, Dayak Seberuang, Dayak Bugau, Dayak Sebaru and Dayak Ketungau.

The term Dayak is a collective name for original inhabitants of interior Borneo Island.

In Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak they are called Iban while in Kalimantan they are known as Dayak Iban.

A unique tradition

There are more than 200 sub-Ibanic groups in Borneo.
They were the headhunters and pirates hundreds of years ago! But now they are the friendliest group on Earth.

Visit Borneo - Explore The Great Maliau Basin

Great news to jungle trekkers! Also known as Sabah's Lost World, Maliau Basin is a unique conservation area.

7-tier waterfalls

Discovered in 1980s, the 58,850ha primary forest area is a huge bowl-shape geological catchment with about 25km in diameter surrounding Maliau River.

The volcanic caldero is surrounded by cliffs and slopes about 1,500m high.
Its most attractive features are the 7-tier waterfalls and the wide varieties of plants and living creatures.

A canopy walkway

Explorers and researchers have found 1,800 tree, 270 bird, 86 mammal and 80 wild orchid species in the area.

Primary gigantic trees

The area is so remote that it has escaped chainsaws of loggers.
Its buffer area is the home for rare Bornean pygmy elephants and Sumatran rhinoceros.

Gigantic trees, trails of wild bearded boars, bloodsucking leeches and the great waterfalls would surely paint a unique experience in your life time!

You may visit the area from Kota Kinabalu via Keningau or directly from Tawau.

Remote location

Go by a 4w-drive vehicle as you would pass through some rough oilpalm plantation roads and logging trails before reaching its security gate. Entry to the area is free!
