Stranded whale at Tanjung Batu Beach, Bintulu
Cuvier's beaked whales have often been found stranded on beaches of Borneo Island.
The adorable marine mammals are generally assumed to have made their way to Borneo waters from either Pacific Ocean or Indian Ocean in their endless search for food.
It is sad to note that their long-distant journey to the island ended up with dead.

In June 2016, 8 goosebeaked whales were found dead on a beach in Kalimantan, South of Borneo.
In December 2015, some caring locals were reported to have saved a whale from being stranded on Tanjung Batu beach in Bintulu but their effort turned futile after the same whale found dead on the same beach a few days later.
