An Orangutan finds freedom in Sepilok virgin forest
Thanks to the government of Sabah for without the establishment of its Sepilok Forest Reserve, the red apes of Borneo, the Orangutan, could have become extinct years ago due to massive deforestation.
Orangutan rehabilitation center
The rehabilitation center was established in 1964 to raise thus protect orphaned Orangutan.
Wild natural habitat conserved
Located about 25km West of Sandakan, the forest reserve area is now home to around 80 Orangutans living freely in the wild.
Bornean Sunbears
The forest reserve is also a natural home to smallest bear species - the Bornean Sunbears.
Long-tailed macaque
Hundreds of long-tailed macaques have also found their homes in the area together with other animal species.
